Paris

Paris is the dream city visit for most women I know – and it does not disappoint!

My first visit to Paris was a short whirlwind. It was planned as an information gathering trip for

planning a future group trip and would include testing out specific tours and lodging in a not so

often referenced neighborhood (arrondissement) of the city. So, knowing I was going there

basically blind, imagine my horror when I mentioned my plans to some friends/clients, and they

insisted on going with me!

I’m a bit bougie and highly safety conscious, so though we all knew we wouldn’t be staying in

an alley, if things went south with any of my choices, I, the Travel Advisor, would be to blame.

Well, my research paid off, it ALL went well, and we had a merveilleux time!

The Allure of Grenelle in the 15th Arrondissement

I chose this area simply for the price of the hotel and its proximity to the train and Eiffel Tower.

Nestled along the Seine, Grenelle offers a more relaxed and authentic Parisian vibe compared to

the bustling city center. It’s a neighborhood where chic boutiques meet quiet streets, and local

bakeries tempt you with the scent of fresh croissants every morning. As a matter of fact, the

bakery across from our hotel became our favorite breakfast spot – the chocolate and almonds

croissants were just splendid! We would walk over, grab croissants and coffee and begin our

walk through the streets of Grenelle to the Champs de Mars. Its proximity to the Eiffel Tower

means you’re just a short walk away from breathtaking views, especially at night when the tower

sparkles like a thousand diamonds. At night, after enjoying the Tower’s sparkles, ever present

crowds and local street vendors, we’d walk back through ‘de Mars to the calm and quiet Grenelle

hotel.

The History of Parfum - Fragonard

Before leaving home, a friend requested I visit Fragonard to buy some diffusers. Well, I’d never

heard of the store, but now…I won’t go to Paris without making several purchases of my own!

Visiting the Fragonard store is an absolute treat for the senses! Fragonard, one of France’s most

iconic perfume houses, is renowned for its beautifully crafted fragrances, timeless elegance, and

attention to detail. As you step into their boutique, you're instantly greeted by a symphony of

floral, citrus, and exotic notes, creating an enchanting ambiance that feels both luxurious and

welcoming.

One standout product that makes the visit unforgettable is their Mimosa Reed Diffuser. Infused

with the essence of sunlit mimosa blossoms, this diffuser fills any space with a soft, powdery

floral scent that's uplifting and serene. The mimosa fragrance is perfect for adding a touch of

Provençal charm to your home, evoking images of golden fields and warm Mediterranean

breezes. The Mimosa is my absolute favorite, it lasted a full year in my office. I now need to

return to obtain more!

Beyond their diffusers, Fragonard offers a wide array of perfumes, candles, and skincare

products – I treasure and sparingly use my fragranced glycerin soaps - each crafted with the same

passion and artistry.

In the same building as the store, but with a separate entrance is the Fragonard Perfume Museum.

Nestled in a beautifully restored 19th-century townhouse near the Opéra Garnier (the inspiration

for the Phantom of the Opera), the museum invites you to discover the secrets behind the

creation of some of the world’s most exquisite perfumes.

As you wander through its elegant rooms, you’ll be captivated by the museum’s collection of

antique perfume bottles, vintage packaging, and historical artifacts. From ornate glass flacons

dating back to ancient civilizations to intricate tools used by expert perfumers, every piece tells a

story of creativity and innovation. The museum also showcases traditional perfume-making

equipment, allowing you to appreciate the craftsmanship and science behind distillation and

blending techniques.

One of the highlights of the visit is the guided tour, where knowledgeable staff share fascinating

insights into the history of perfume, the art of choosing the perfect fragrance, and how scent has

influenced culture over centuries. You'll also get a chance to explore Fragonard's modern

creations and perhaps even identify your personal fragrance preferences.

The museum not only offers a cultural and sensory experience but also serves as the perfect

opportunity to bring a piece of Parisian elegance home.

A Macaron Experience Like No Other

Maison LaDuree is known worldwide for its macaron. However, while in Paris, I only got a

chance to visit Christophe Roussel patisserie – and if LaDuree is better than Roussel’s then they

must be macaron “heaven on earth.” Roussel’s macarons were phenomenal. His creations are

not just delicious but works of art, bursting with flavors that range from classic pistachio to

creative combinations like passionfruit with chocolate. Because we were there for only a few

nights, we were able to buy boxes to bring home!

Dinner on the Seine: A Feast for the Senses

We closed out our trip with a dinner cruise along the Seine. It is indeed the epitome of Parisian

elegance. As your boat glides past landmarks like Notre Dame and the Louvre, you’ll enjoy

gourmet cuisine paired with fine wine. The reflections of the city lights on the water add to the

enchantment, making this a highlight of any trip.

Staying in Grenelle adds a charming, laid-back touch to your Paris adventure while keeping you

close to iconic experiences. From crafting your own perfume at Fragonard to savoring macarons

by Christophe Roussel, and dining as the Seine sparkles at night, Paris offers endless

opportunities to make memories that linger long after you leave.

Pro tip: Book your Fragonard class and dinner cruise in advance to ensure you don’t miss out on

these unforgettable moments. Paris is always waiting to surprise and delight!
